George Washington's World for Kids

Explore a 3D Mount Vernon in search of artifacts that reveal the many facets of the man. Meet the people who lived and worked on his estate. Play the harpsichord so he can dance with his beloved Martha. And serve as gun captain at Washington's greatest moment of military achievement, the siege of Yorktown. Wisconsin Educational Communications Board Madison, Wisconsin Explore eight reading strategies for K-4 students and teachers in this interactive and in-depth reading comprehension site:
Students can watch online videos, play learning games and interactives, and share their creations with friends and family. Teachers can delve into rich information and teaching resources, lesson plans, video and audio clips, downloads, and more. Eduweb collaborated with the State of Wisconsin's Educational Communications Board on the design and development of the entire site, and particularly on the playful learning games and interactives that give students valuable practice with each reading strategy. eduweb's role: Concept design, interactivity design, writing, graphic design, illustration, animation, and production. WolfQuest
Minnesota Zoo Apple Valley, Minnesota Wolves are naturally compelling animals. The subject of folklore and legend around the world, wolves inspire excitement, fear and wonder, but never complacency. WolfQuest merges the natural mystery and charisma of wolves with the immersive, compelling drama and action of video games to create a new model for conservation education. A free downloadable game funded by the National Science Foundation, WolfQuest teaches wolf behavior and ecology through exciting 3D gameplay and intense social interactions both in the game and through the WolfQuest website. eduweb's role: Initial conceptualization, grantwriting, game design and development, 3D modeling and animation, game programming, Web production, and user testing. Forces of Flight
National Air & Space Museum Smithsonian Institution Just how do airplanes stay up in the air? This whimsical interactive explores the four forces of flight by putting you in the designer's seat. Build a hybrid aircraft by selecting wings, fuselage and other components from 100 years of flight, then see what happens to your aircraft (and your poor test pilot). Does it go faster, slower, higher or lower? Experiment with lift, drag, thrust and weight to reach your target speed and altitude. Betwixt Folly and fate
Colonial Williamsburg Williamsburg, Virginia Betwixt Folly and Fate is an immersive 3-D role playing game that places players in 1774 Williamsburg as one of four characters:
In each role, players face the challenges of daily life in early America while learning about the social classes and customs of the time. For example, Henry, a free black carpenter, must find enough work as a journeyman to pay his mother's rent. As Henry seeks carpentry work and other tasks that come his way, the player learns about facets of ordinary eighteenth-century life as well as the opportunities and constraints facing a free black tradesman in 1774. As players pursue their characters' goals, they explore a large portion of eighteenth-century Williamsburg, Virginia, roaming the streets and meeting people in shops, taverns, the Courthouse, and private homes. The town is populated with dozens of characters, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Patrick Henry. Players may also bargain for goods with shopkeepers and try their hand at several colonial games. eduweb's role: Concept development, game design, scriptwriting, graphic design, 3D modeling and animation, programming, and production. The Renaissance Connection
Allentown Art Museum Allentown, Pennsylvania eduweb collaborated with Allentown museum staff on this multi-faceted Web site that explores Renaissance visual arts and innovations and their role in the making of the modern world. Applying research into learning styles and user engagement, we developed a suite of online activities and resources for middle school students and teachers: Explore a timeline of Renaissance art and innovation, commission an artwork as a patron of the arts, design your own innovation, and much more, all enhanced with quirky visuals, irreverent humor, and engaging interactivity that reveal the ways that Renaissance life and culture resemble our own. eduweb's role: Concept and content development, visual design, illustration, animation, programming, production, and user testing.
